STF - Show the Flow

Those of you whom are new to the site will probably wonder what on earth these initials mean, so I'm going to give a summary.

S.T.F. is an abbreviation for "Show The Flow", a parkour-based project maintained by Insidious, aimed at the documentation of Irish Parkour community events and the representation of those dedicated to parkour on the Emerald Isle.

The project is constantly evolving and currently has a few points of focus, namely:

One project in the works is "Disciple"-a parkour documentary. At present I don't want to give too much away in that department. You'll see it for yourself at some stage once it's finished. Expect it in 2008, spring-summer I suspect. Hopefully not later but knowing me...

I had planned on releasing a video magazine, with a free DVD as people always love footage. But the effort required for such a project would be too great for the relative lack of demand, as the community is still quite small and technicalities over training philosophies etc. could prove to be a rather annoying obstacle to overcome. An online mag via a YouTube account could be a more realistic possibility for the time-being until the community surpasses its' current phase of development.

The main S.T.F. events thus far have been the jams. These have always been aimed at getting as many members of the community together as possible with the intention of sharing skills, stories, philosophies and with making new friends whom share a common interest. They've also given me the pleasure of bearing witness to some of the most amazing movements I've seen executed around some of the country's more famous spots.

Following the success of a Belfast jam organised by Bane and Zoro on the 25th of June 2005, I was keen to see the community getting together on a regular basis. Two jams were conducted as an experiment as to my organisational skills and to gain an appreciation of the potential success (or possible lack of-I didn't know at the time) of the project.

November 4th 2005, Belfast
December 17th 2005, Dublin.

Both of these preparatory jams went down a storm and ultimately lead to the following:

S.T.F. Belfast-March 25th 2006
S.T.F. Dublin-June 25th 2006
S.T.F. Derry-August 25th 2006
S.T.F. Belfast II-November 4th 2006

S.T.F. Dublin II-March 25th 2007
S.T.F. Derry II-July 5th 2007
S.T.F. Dundalk-September 8th 2007
S.T.F. Belfast III-November 3rd 2007

What lies in store for 2008 is unclear-much depends on how well the expansion of the overall project goes. Success or failure, I will have been proud to have witnessed so many movements, met so many friends and had some amazing discussions about training and philosophy. I can only hope that I have the pleasure of maintaining the project long into the future and that people get something out of it-I know how much it means to me when people express an interest, often travelling over 50 miles just to attend the jams.

Best of luck to all, I hope to see more people at more jams, make more friends, see new traceurs rise up the ranks, see old-school traceurs represent like they have always done and, fingers crossed, get the chance to represent some of the amazing people I've encountered via photographs, articles, video profiles and documentaries.

Thank you to all whom have taken the time to read. Young or old, new or experienced, I wish you all the best.

Take care, play safe, train hard.
